Big Husky Lodge, Aviemore - Charlotte & Claudio

Charlotte & Claudio’s Wedding is proof that the sun in a Scottish winter does exist!

We were treated to beautiful blue skies all day and a gentle, if at times chilly, breeze. Big Husky Lodge, created a perfect spot for Charlotte & Claudio’s loved ones to spend the day celebrating the happy couple.

They chose to take a good DIY approach to their wedding day, sourcing most of their wedding decorations themselves. Although this can be tricky, and certainly adds to the time invested, in the case of Charlotte & Claudio, it meant they were able to tailor their day to be exactly what they wanted! By choosing Big Husky Lodge near Aviemore as their venue, it allowed them a relatively neutral setting to add to, rather than having to fill a space.

Nico the dog, had a great day too.

Watching his parents spend the day with their friends, he even managed to get a nap in during the ceremony!

The ceremony was well thought out, allowing for a musical performance from Charlotte’s friend Georgia, and handwritten vows from the couple.

After completing the legal part of the day, we headed outside to get the family photos.

By taking the family photos shortly after the ceremony, it prevents anyone from disappearing and allows us to get through them quickly, and efficiently. This meant that everyone could get back for some canapés & a celebratory drink!

Once back inside (and warmed up!) I gave Charlotte & Claudio the option to shoot their couples portraits at Big Husky Lodge, or to make the short drive to Loch Garten, around 5 minutes away.

Back on our first Zoom call, we’d decided that given the time of year it would be best to make the final decision on the day, once we knew what the weather would be like. Since there was plenty of sun, both were keen to make the most of it and take the short drive to Loch Garten for some photos amongst the stunning highland scenery.

I’m so pleased that we were able to make it work, the photos by the side of Loch Garten are some of my favourite to date!

We made sure not to spend too long by the lochside, as it’s still February and hypothermia would make for a poor wedding gift.

Looking at the timestamps on my first & last photo, we managed to capture everything in under 10 minutes. (9 minutes, 4 seconds to be exact!)

Once back at Big Husky Lodge, we enjoyed lunch provided by Quismat, a local Indian restaurant, then it was on to speeches from Charlotte’s dad & Claudio. As the sun set, it was time for the first dance (of many!).

Using a strangely complimentary mix of Ceilidh & Salsa music, each side of the wedding party could share their take on how to celebrate a wedding.

A huge thank you to Charlotte & Claudio for putting your trust in me, it was such a lovely day with you both!

I’d also like to thank my fellow wedding vendors for their contributions to the day:
